The horse racing festival is a traditional holiday with long history in Yushu Prefecture. It is held every year from July the 25th to the 30th in Zhaxike Grassland. The horse racing festival is famous for its three fantastic wonders: thousands of colorful camps formed a city of tents, locals of Kham Tibetan Area in particular national costumes and the world-known folk songs and dance. During this festival, there will be also trade fair where people make deal or transactions. The horse racing festival have several programs including parties featured folk songs and dance in which people are in particular national costumes of typical traditional color and style, carnival night joined by people from three prefectures, folk songs competition in Kham Tibetan Area, Horse Racing, Yak Racing, exhibition of the developing achievements, expositions of art, calligraphy, and photograph, tour propaganda and trade fair as well as trade negotiation.
